Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind journey through the art of storytelling featuring old time radio sketches, personal anecdotes, stories in song, vintage TV vignettes and other yarns from all walks of life.
Saturday, April 14th
Shows at 3 pm and 7:30 pm.
Enjoy this unique performance with original songs from the Americas, Brazilian beats, and South American songs mixed in with rock and other rhythms featuring carefully written lyrics in both English and Spanish. Guitarists/singers/songwriters Lonnie Harrington and Ruben Gonzalez bring their multi lingual grooves that radiate the beautiful flavors of the Americas and the Caribbean. Ruben and Lonnie bring to the stage decades of performing experience in North and South America across a diverse range of musical styles. They will be joined by special guests for the evening.
Lonnie Harrington’s musical expressions are most often categorized as a blend of “World Beat” and “Jazz”, but are truly a personal synthesis of his diverse musical experiences over the past 45 years. Lonnie gained a reputation for his rhythmic groove as a guitarist and percussionist with multiple bands, appearing regularly at notable venues including SOB’s, The Blue Note, The Village Gate, Tramps, Summerstage and Symphony Space. In 2008, he teamed up with singer/songwriter Ruben Gonzalez performing as “Grooves of the Hemisphere”. His recent collection “Northern Tropicale and Other Romantic Illusions” was released in September of 2017.
